“Perhaps it is music that will change the world.” -Pablo Casals

Inspired By Passion
Ms. Leilah’s teaching philosophy combines both
Traditional (notereading) Methods & the Suzuki Method (playing by ear)
in order to produce a well-rounded music student!

Notereading provides musical literacy, whereas playing by ear,
allows technical development at a young age.

This provides the best foundation for musical fluency.

Cello

There really is no instrument quite like the cello. Researchers state that humans are drawn to the cello due to it’s similarities to the human voice. Cello is quite the versatile instrument as well. It can play the part of the Melody, the Alto, the Tenor, or the Bass!

Piano

Piano offers one of the best introductions to musical instruments. It builds a strong foundation in pitch and music theory, which can then be transferred to other instruments later for easier studies, should that be a goal.

Theory

Theory is often approached in a manner that makes it dry and difficult to understand. But Ms. Leilah has special training (Music Mind Games) to liven up music theory and make it more enjoyable to learn.

Music Lessons For All Ages & Levels

Aside from Ms. Leilah’s method’s, her philosophy itself heavily aligns with the Suzuki Method and Montessori approaches that build a foundation of learning through play, exploration, and curiosity.

With children, this might look like games or silly analogies. With adults, it might look like meditations of exploration.

Her priority is not necessarily to teach music first, but to teach character development and educational curiosity.

In order to learn music, one must first establish healthy practice routines, understand expectations for a good learning attitude, and more. Only then can true musical development follow appropriately.

Ms. Leilah firmly believes that what is learned in music lessons, establish healthy habits for the rest of life. Therefore one’s progress cannot be measured in what piece they are playing, but rather in what character habits they have formed along the way.
